Bears vs. Chiefs 2018: Live updates from the game The Bears are resting a good amount of starters in their all-important third fourth preseason game against the Chiefs today Bryce Callahan Jersey , including Mitchell Trubisky. Matt Nagy and company are on to Green Bay in Week 1. Here’s the full list of 31 inactives:Notably, James Daniels will start at center against Kansas City’s first team defense. Eric Kushwill flank him at left guard. Meanwhile, Roy Robertson-Harris and Jonathan Bullard still have a defensive competition to sort out and both will play. Of all the main receivers, Kevin White will also receive snaps against the Chiefs. So there are things to keep an eye on!For live scoring updates during today’s preseason game, you can follow along here. This is your official Open Thread during today’s action as well, and thread responsibly. We’re almost at the end of the preseason and are just 15 days away from the regular season opener. Nagy’s “Revenge Game” against Kansas City stands in the way. The game starts at 12:00 p.m. CT.Even while not playing, Jordan Howard arrives to Soldier Field in style. First quarter update: No Trubisky, no first-team offensive line, no problem for the Bears evidently. On the first possession of the game, Chase Daniel took Chicago right down the field (while aided by penalties). Benny Cunningham would take it in for the score on a nice cutback in his return from injury. Not to be outdone, the first-team Chiefs offense led by Patrick Mahomes responded on the next series. The explosive Tyreek Hill did a bunch of the heavy lifting. And last year’s NFL rushing leader, Kareem Hunt, finished it off to tie it up at 7-7.In what is clearly becoming a shootout the Bears would then again score led by Daniel. This time the veteran hit Kevin White for his first ever career touchdown. That has to feel great for a man in White who has been through so much. The Bears lead 14-7 at the start of the second quarter. Second quarter update:After a terrific first quarter, the Bears offense would not let up. Is part of their performance rooted in a bad first-team Chiefs defense? Probably. But it still counts!Following a Chiefs field goal, Chicago ran it’s attack through their rookie seventh rounder Javon Wims. And he did not disappoint as evidenced by this 53-yard catch and run. Two players later, Wims put his 6-foot-4 frame to good use for an acrobatic touchdown to make it 21-10. Good throw from Daniel, and a better catch from Wims. With plays like this Authentic Charles Leno Jersey , Wims is an easy lock for the Bears’ final 53-man roster. In a surprising turn of events, the Bears’ defense was able to hold it’s own Kansas City’s first-team attack with some forced three-and-outs. That set up one last field goal drive to make it 24-10, which was facilitated by Chase Daniel’s legs. Doug Pederson won a Super Bowl with the Eagles in his second season as a coach, and Nagy’s Bears backups are getting one over on Andy Reid’s first stringers. Not an ideal day for the mentor.Notable first half performers:Chase Daniel: 15/18, 198 yards, two touchdowns, 149.5 passer rating. Six carries, 47 yardsJavon Wims: Two receptions, 70 yards, one touchdownIsaiah Irving: Five tacklesThird quarter update:Not much doing in the third quarter for either team offensively. Notably, the Bears were able to keep the Chiefs’ first team offense out of the end zone on four plays near the goal line. Tyler Bray obviously, isn’t Daniel. The Bears have had better luck than usual this season in regards to injuries. After returning from their bye week they’re about to get a boost while fully rested. On Thursday, rookie receiver Anthony Miller fully participated in Bears practice. That’s after dislocating his shoulder against the Cardinals a little over two weeks ago. It also means that barring an unforeseen setback in the next few days, Miller will play against the Dolphins on Sunday in Miami. Miller’s return bodes well for a Chicago attack coming off a 48-point outing against the Buccaneers without his services. In other Thursday injury notes, Eric Kush was again on the limited list due to what head coach Matt Nagy called “stingers.” His status for Sunday may be muddled as the Bears figure what to do with James Daniels and the veteran at left guard. Meanwhile, Prince Amukmara and Marcus Cooper continue to battle hamstring injuries that have ailed them for awhile now. Cooper was a non-participant, while Amukamara was limited. Whatever this duo’s status is for Sunday this late in the week, you can likely expect to see a healthy dose of Sherrick McManis in relief in the secondary again. At least it’s Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins, not the Patriots and Tom Brady, right?Robert is the Editor-in-chief of The Blitz Network (subscribe here!), the managing editor of Windy City Gridiron, and writes for a host of other fine publications.
